What has happened so far?

Background

In March, the High Court ruled that although the vaccine mandates in the health and education sector were a breach of human rights, they were demonstrably justified in a free and democratic society. After taking advice, our members in the education sector voted to continue the fight and file an appeal against the decision.

Rachael Mortimer

CHAIRPERSON

Rachael is a HoF of English and Social Science who has been teaching for thirteen years.  She specialises in teaching students with diverse learning styles. She was 'on leave' at home with three children, three cats and a crazy puppy. Now Rachael is HoF of English and Social Science; and also a dean at a Canterbury school. She works part time on a contractual basis for the University of Canterbury in the School of Education. She is a big advocate for supporting education staff and is also the President for the new Educators Union TPANZ.

DEPUTY CHAIRPERSON

Proprietor representative on the Kaikohe Christian School Board of Trustees. CEO of Celebration Trust. Officer of several trusts and societies. Director of two small companies. “I am passionate about human rights and bodily autonomy. I joined NZTSOS to see this unjust breach of human rights overturned.”

SECRETARY

Renee is a Science teacher with 20 years of experience in the classroom and Science laboratory. Renee was also the PPTA Branch Chair for the staff of her school at the time of the mandates.

I've been a primary school teacher for 26 years and resigned due to the mandates. I believe we need to continue to stand for our right to bodily autonomy for ourselves and our children and future generations.
